The Haunted Bridge

The Haunted Bridge by Carolyn Keene is 180 pages long and it is a Nancy Drew book.  Nancy, Bess, and George are at a hotel that has a golf course. Nancy is playing against a man named Barty.  While playing, Nancy hits her ball and it lands in a forest near by.  When she goes to get it, her caddy, Chris, tells her that the bridge that goes across a river to the forest is haunted.  He says that there is a ghost that sometimes walks on the bridge and they  hear it moan and scream.  Later, Nancy's father gives her a case about a gang of jewel thieves.  Nancy later learns that there is a woman who used to live at a house in the woods but her house burned down and after that she ran away.  Nancy then finds a box of jewels hidden in the river and thinks it belongs to the lady that lived at the house.  She finds out that the lady had a gardener and tries to find him.  After Nancy investigates some more, she starts to think that Mrs. Merriam, the lady that lived in the house at the forest, is innocent and is being framed for stealing the jewels she found.

The Message in the Hollow Oak

The Message in the Hollow Oak, by Carolyn Keene, is a Nancy Drew mystery that is 182 pages long.  In this book, Nancy's Aunt Eloise tells her that she knows a detective named Boyce Osborne who has a mystery for her.  When she gets to Aunt Eloise's house, her aunt introduces her to Boyce, and Boyce tells her about the mystery.  He says he was solving a case about a hollow oak. The oak had a message inside it. The message was on a lead plate and it said PF, and there was an arrow under it pointing east.  Boyce says that before he could finish solving the case, he had to return home.  Later Nancy tells Ned and he says that he has a cousin that is going to work at a dig near were she is going, so Nancy goes to meet her.  She takes a plane and meets a man named Kit who is very rude.  After she gets off the plane, she meets Ned's cousin, Julie Anne, but she also runs into Kit again.  Then, a lady tells Nancy that Kit is a troublemaker.  Nancy goes to the dig and goes to sleep, but then she wakes up and hears a voice that says, "Nancy Drew, Nancy Drew".  After looking around, she spots a goat in the corner of her room eating some cookies.  After this, Nancy starts to think that Kit is up to no good.

The Whispering Statue

The Whispering Statue, by Carolyn Keene, is a Nancy Drew mystery book that is 179 pages.  Nancy's father tells her that he has two cases for her to solve and he introduces her to Mrs. Merriam.  Mrs. Merriam tells Bess, George, and Nancy about the mysteries she has for them.  The first one Mrs. Merriam tells them is about some books she had that she wanted to sell.  She contacted a man named Mr. Basswood, who agreed to help sell the volumes, but she believed that he wasn't giving her all the money he made.  The second is about a whispering statue.  Mrs. Merriam tells a story about a statue and says that it got stolen.  She wanted Nancy to find the statue, figure out who stole it, and find out why it whispered.  After their conversation was over, someone knocked on the front and the back door.  Also the phone started ringing.  When the doors are opened and the phone is answered, two men with black masks are standing at them.  On the phone a strange voice says that Mrs. Merriam had better stop talking or they will get hurt.  The men at the doors escape and Mrs. Merriam starts to think that her case will be to dangerous for Nancy.  This is only the beginning.
