The Secret of Red Gate Farm, a Nancy Drew book by Carlyn Keene, is 178 pages. Nancy and her friends, Bess and George start off riding on a train back to her house and there Nancy meets a girl named Joanne. Before they even got on the train Nancy and her two friends went shopping and her friend Bess bought a bottle of perfume but accidentally spilt some on Nancy. On the train a man walked up to Nancy and said something strange to her and then realizing his mistake, he said that thought she was someone else because of the perfume she was wearing. Joanne told Nancy that she was going to town to apply for a job. Nancy goes into the building with Joanne and copies down a coded message she finds. Afterwards Joanne invites Nancy, Bess, and George to come and stay at her farm for a while. While there, Nancy learns about a group up on the hillside and sees there odd moonlight rituals. Strange things happen and then Nancy begins to think that something strange is going on at the groups hillside.
